It's always nice to virtually meet another Mac lover. I made the switch in October 2006. I mainly use my 17" MacBook Pro (a great machine!) Although I really love the iPhone I won't purchase it. AT&T's coverage stinks in an area that I visit at least twice yearly. I cannot run the risk of the service cutting on me (it has with my father and other relatives)

I bought my iPod this year. My father liked my regular iPod so much I let him have it so now I'm down to the nano,
I switched him to Mac's also a few days after I purchased m MacBook Pro. I bought him a refurbished Power Mac G5. That's an excellent machine.

I've purchased a lot of Apple hardware/software since October 2006. The 30" Apple monitor is next on my list.

I belive you are more representative of most people. New ideas are great but sifting through the headaches is not for me. I prefer to wait until the kinks are worked out. I just bought a new desktop for video editing and i chose to find a super higher end PC with Windows Xp rather than Vista.

I love gadgets but i don't need any additional headaches.

I couldn't agree more -- damn, it is like you are stealing all my blogging ideas (beating me to the punch, damn!); I totally share your sentiment though.

Apple has been notorious for releasing an amazingly innovative product whose flaws are made apparent only by its near perfection in version two.

The iPhone as it is now is for those must-have fanatics with a little extra cash to spend that want a new toy. If you want to spend your money on a great phone that will truly change your mobile life; then wait for the second version which will be faster, better and traditionally less expensive; not to mention with most of the kinks worked out.

I've heard there are plans to release an iPhone that uses the 3G network in either late Q4 '07 or early '08.

Apparently, Apple was pushing for a quick launch with the widest possible distribution net, which meant using the older EDGE network. That older network is available almost everywhere in the US but is MUCH slower. From what I've seen, if you don't have a WiFi connection on your iPhone, then you shouldn't bother trying to surf the web anyway, it's just too slow. The newer 3G networking will be much faster.

That being said, I'm so jealous of my coworkers with iPhones that I'm considering stealing one and blaming it on gnomes.
